   THEME
The Internet is a part of the infrastructure of daily life. Research and development in innovative networking
and application areas are related to the Internet thus have strong impact on society. The future scheme of the
Internet will consist of networking, applications, and new emerging technologies such as business models,
solutions, and services. Internet research studies must therefore be shifted to investigate these areas more
aggressively.

The main objectives of this workshop are to present significant research results related to next-generation
Internet technologies and applications, and to exchange ideas on the future direction of Internet research. The
areas of interest in this workshop include both networking and application technologies, which complement each
other. Participants are also encouraged to submit papers on technical aspects of emerging areas such as business
models, solutions and services.

   Research topics of the workshop
Topics of interest at the workshop include but are not limited to the following:

      Internet Technologies

            Differentiated Services and QoS Technology
            Packet Routing, Classification and Filtering
            Network Performance Modeling and Evaluation
            Traffic Measurement and Analysis
            Protocol Modeling and Implementation
            New IP architectures (IPv6, IPsec)
            Multicast and Anycast
            Caching and performance improvement

      Internet Applications

            Middleware for the Internet
Security and directory services (PKI, X509, LDAP, X500)
            Billing and accounting
            E-Commerce and E-business
            Distance Learning and Distance Education

   SUBMISSION DETAILS
Authors are invited to submit research contributions representing original, previously unpublished work.
Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated on the basis of their originality, significance, technical soundness,
and clarity of exposition. All papers will be refereed by at least two members of the program committee. Accepted
papers will be published by IEEE Computer Society Press as proceedings of the ICPADS '2000 workshops. All
submitted papers MUST be formatted according to the author guidelines provided by IEEE Computer Society
Press (two-column format) and MUST NOT be longer than SIX (6) pages.

   Electronic Submission (Primary Method)
Please submit your paper electronically to our FTP site. Please prepare your paper as plain ASCII PostScript
only, with NO encoding, condensing, or encapsulation. Please use
TrueType 1 fonts wherever possible. Do not use bitmapped fonts such as Computer Modern if you can avoid it.
Guidelines for generating and submitting PostScript files are available at http://computer.org/author/psguide.htm.

      * File Names
Please save your file using your name, i.e. John Smith's file would be smith.ps. If you are submitting two
or more files, please number them: smith1.ps, smith2.ps and so on.

      * Instruction for transferring to FTP Site
When transferring files to our FTP site, if you have a choice between ASCII and binary modes, use
binary. Although ASCII mode works well most of the time, binary mode incurs fewer problems.

            Logon as: anonymous
            Place files in subdirectory: incoming/ngita00

      * Submission Notification
When you have put your file(s) in our FTP site, please send an e-mail to hashi@iwate-pu.ac.jp with
