The 1st International Conference on Internet Computing (IC'2000)
June 26th - 29th, 2000 Monte Carlo Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
The 1st International Conference on Internet Computing (IC'2000) will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in
conjunction with
the International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications
(PDPTA'2000).
PREAMBLE:
A number of factors have recently contributed to bring the use of the internet as a general programming
environment closer to maturity. The internet is already more widely deployed than any other computing
system in history and continues to grow rapidly. New technologies, including much higher speed wide area
network interconnects and improved software support for distribution, promise to make the internet much
more useful for general purpose distributed computing in the future. This conference seeks to explore both
the underlying technologies required to enable advanced internet computing and the characteristics of
evolving applications that make use of this technology. It is anticipated that Internet Computing 2000
(IC'2000) will be a major forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners throughout the world to present
their latest research results, theories, developments and applications.
You are invited to submit a draft paper of about 5 pages and/or a proposal to organize a technical session
(see below for submission information). All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
The names of technical session chairs will appear as associate editors on the cover of the conference
proceedings.

SUBMITTING PAPERS
Authors are invited to submit summaries of original unpublished research in all areas of Internet based
computing to the Program Chairs. All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee and outside
referees. Summaries should not exceed five (5) single-spaced pages of text using 12 point size type on 8.5 x
11 inch pages. References, figures, tables, etc. may be included in addition to the four pages of text. The
summary should include an abstract of approximately 100 words. Electronic submission is strongly
encouraged. If electronic submission is not possible, hard copy submission can be made by sending five (5)
hard copies of the paper to the Program Chair at the address given below. Electronic submissions should be
sent to iwic@cs.umanitoba.ca. Authors should submit a PostScript or PDF file formatted for 8.5 x 11 inch (US
letter size) paper. PostScript files must be viewable using the ghostscript software and PDF files must be
viewable using the Adobe Acrobat software. The corresponding author should include the following
information in the cover letter: (1) complete postal address; (2) email address; (3) phone number; (4) fax
number; and (5) five to seven key words or phrases that characterize the paper's subject area. Receipt of
submissions will be promptly acknowledged by email.
PROPOSALS FOR ORGANIZING TECHNICAL SESSIONS
Each technical session will have at least 6 paper presentations. The session chairs will be responsible for all
aspects of their sessions; including, soliciting papers (recruiting), reviewing, selecting, ... The names of
session chairs will appear as Associate Editors in the conference proceedings. After the conference, some
sessions will be considered for publication in appropriate journals as Special Issues with the session proposer
as the Guest Editor of the journal.
Proposals to organize technical sessions should include the following information: name and address (+
E-mail) of proposer, title of session, a 100-word description of the topic of the session, and a short
description on how the session will be advertised (in most cases, session proposers solicit papers from
colleagues and researchers whose work is already known to the session proposer.)

EVALUATION OF SUBMISSIONS
Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and soundness. Each paper will be refereed by at
least two researchers in the topic area. The Camera-Ready papers will be reviewed by one person.
PUBLICATION
The conference proceedings will be published by CSREA Press (ISBN). The proceedings will be available
at the conference.
Some accepted papers will also be considered for journal publication (after the conference.)
ORGANIZERS/SPONSORS
A number of university faculty members and their staff in cooperation with the Monte Carlo Resort
(Conference Division, Las Vegas ) will be organizing the conference. The conference will be co-sponsored
by Computer Science Research, Education, & Applications Press (CSREA), World Scientific and
Engineering Society (WSES), international research groups in related areas, and developers of
high-performance machines, systems, and networks. The complete list of sponsors and co-sponsors will be
available at a later time.
