The 2000 International Conference on Broadband Wireless Access Systems
"Enjoy the Wireless Access"
4th to 6th December 2000
San Francisco, U.S.A.
Call For Papers
The Technical Forum on Broadband Wireless Access Systems (TF-WAS) announces a
forthcoming International Conference on Broadband Wireless Access Systems to be held on
December 4th through 6th, 2000 in San Francisco / Silicon Valley, United States.
There has been tremendous interest recently in broadband wireless access systems (WAS),
scheduled to start services around the year 2000, has been the hot subject of much
research and many standardization activities throughout the world. ITU-R JRG 8A-9B and
IEEE 802 are taking the initiative to produce proposals of radio transmission technologies
and advanced systems prototype for WAS. The objective of this Conference is to gather the
research and development papers in this field and present an overview of
the-state-of-the-art of this WAS wireless storm - globally or locally, as well as
perspectives on future development in order to promote future research activities.
Original contributions are invited on recent research and development of WAS such as LMDS,
wATM, WLAN, RLAN, etc. The topics of interest within the scope of this Conference include
(but are not limited to) the following:
Radio Transmission Technology for WAS
Re-configurable Base station and Terminal for WAS
System Architecture for WAS
Protocol Stack for WAS
Co-existence for WAS
Medium Access Control and Channel Allocation for WAS
ATM and WATM for WAS
Internet Protocol (IP) for WAS
QoS issues for WAS
Security Issues for WAS
ALL-IP Network Architecture for WAS
Performance and Operational Issues for WAS
Generic Requirements for WAS
Efficient Spectrum Utilization for WAS
Frequency Sharing between fixed and mobile WAS
Network solutions for WAS
WAS engineering
LMDS development
Modulation and Coding for WAS
Characteristics of WAS
WAS deployment and optimization
WAS projects report
Other WAS issues
The submitted papers will be reviewed by referees according to the ordinary rules of the
IEEE Conference. Each paper is, in principle, limited to twelve printed pages. Original,
unpublished contribution will be considered for this Conference presentation as well as
proceedings. Prospective authors are requested to send extended summary (1~5 Pages) of
their manuscripts to the following address (Electronic Submission is highly encouraged,
please refer to instructions on the web site) in electronic mean or hardcopy according to
the following timetable. Result will be announced after full technical reviewing process.
