CALL FOR PAPERS

                                           IFIP-TC6 WG 6.8 Wireless Communications

Conference Scope

Looking back on the evolution of digital telecommunications in the 70s, 80s and 90s, powered by the rapid growth of,
respectively, WAN, LAN and B-ISDN systems, one sees the transition from computer-to-computer to person-to-person
communications as a logical next step in the forthcoming decade. To this end, the wired world needs wireless access. Among
the obvious harbingers are development of wireless LAN and ATM infrastructure, satellite access to the Internet as well as
successive generations of cellular and LEO-based telephony complete with data and broadband services. Design and
implementation of wireless communications systems raise challenging issues to research upon. The conference will focus on
technical aspects such as network architecture and control, wireless LAN, ATM and local loop, future mobile
communication systems and supporting technologies. Original papers are solicited that are related, but not necessarily limited,
      to the following topics:

      - Wireless and Mobile Communications
      - Digital Cellular Systems Towards IMT-2000/UMTS
      - Personal Digital Cordless Systems
      - Wireless Local Loop
      - Terrestrial Radio Systems
      - Wireless ATM and Wireless LAN
      - Satellite and Space Communications
      - LEO Satellite Communication Systems
      - Issues for Wireless Multimedia Networking
      - Radio Access Techniques for Broadband Mobile Communications
      - Technologies, Services and Applications
      - Design Issues and Performance Evaluation
