CFP : Invited Session on Multimedia Communications and Networking of 5th World Multi Conference SCI

To all multimedia communications and networking experts, 
  
In the light of the 5th world multi-conference SCI to be held in July 
2001, an invited session on multimedia communications and networking 
will be organised. The objective of this session is to give the experts in 
the field the opportunity to meet up and exchange ideas and thoughts on 
their latest research and technical activities and provide them with a 
plaform of publishing and presenting their most recent achievements in a 
world renowned conference. 
  
Therefore, you are all invited to submit an abstract of a technical paper 
by the 15th of December 2000 at the latest. The scope of this organised 
session is defined by, but not restricted to: 
  
- Media compression (video, speech, audio) 
- Joint source/channel coding 
- Packet audio/video communications (Packetisation schemes, 
  synchronisation, lost packet recovery techniques) 
- Error control mechanisms (Error resilience, concealment, recovery 
  techniques, new error handling schemes for mobile channel applications 
  etc) 
- Audiovisual transmissions over 3G networks (QoS, quality/error control 
  optimisation, Throughput and channel utilisation, multi-slotting 
  capabilities for video service provisioning 
- Packet video and audio networks (Broadcast DVB and DAB technologies, 
  Wireless multimedia, Video over Wireless ATM etc) 
- Multimedia and DTV applications 
- Internetwork communications (Multimedia Gatewaying, Multimedia Control 
  Unit architecture and technologies, Advanced H.323 applications and 
  services, integration of fixed and mobile IP networks etc) 
- Improved multimedia communication protocols (packet-switched, 
  circuit-switched, multi-party audiovisual communications, improved QoS 
  techniques etc) 
- Video indexing and retrieval 
- Security issues in Multimedia Communications (Image/Video authentication 
  and watermarking, encryption, validation etc) 
- Novel multimedia applications and services over various networking 
  platforms 
  
  
Important Dates: 
 - Abstract submission: Dec 15, 2000 
 - Notification of acceptance: Feb 16, 2001 
 - Camera ready paper: Apr 6, 2001 
  
Abstracts must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word document or 
postscript format to a.sadka@eim.surrey.ac.uk at a date no later than the 
submission deadline above.
