Conference on "Beyond SONET/SDH"

To what extent is the SDH/Sonet layer used?
What is the impact of the exponential development of IP networks on the future of Sonet/SDH?
What progress has been made within normalisaton bodies (ITU-T, IETF, ODSI, OSI, etc.)?
What role can Gigabit Ethernet play when applied to the WAN?
Will the future 10 Gigabit Ethernet standard replace SDH/Sonet?
Is the Digital Wrapper the solution?
What are the current industrial developments?
Have operators (incumbent or new entrants) initiated deployments?
For which applications (transport, access, leased lines)?

The conference "Beyond Sonet/SDH", to be held in Paris on April 10 to 13,
2001, will tackle these pressing issues -- capital to the evolution of the
Sonet/SDH layer.

The conference will bring together the principal players from the vendor
world, representatives of normalisaton bodies and operators.
