               17th International Teletraffic Congress
"Teletraffic Engineering in the Internet Era"
Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, September 24-28, 2001

The purpose of the International Teletraffic Congress (ITC) is
to stimulate the development and application of Teletraffic Theory for
planning, engineering, managing and administrating telecommunication
networks.

The main objective of ITC17th is to integrate the academic,
research, operators and industry telecom community, creating a proper
environment for discussing and exchanging experiences on teletraffic
matters.

Call for Papers
===============

The Internet Age features the convergence of voice, video and
data technologies. It requires radically new approaches to network
design. That multi-service network entails additional challenges to
teletraffic engineers like modelling burst packet traffic, bandwidth
allocation for real time and mass data applications, resource
reservation and routing algorithms, mobility management, engineering
of network resources, quality-of-service guarantees, pricing and
economic investments.

ITC-17 addresses the difficult problems of models and strategies
to cope with the exploding increase of packet traffic, the need of
high bandwidth in the access networks, the interworking of fixed and
mobile networks and the reliability for the forthcoming myriad
of services. The conference theme "Teletraffic Engineering in the
internet Era" underlines the evolutionary progress needed in the area
of Teletraffic Theory and Engineering for the convergence of networks
and services. The technical program will include traffic performance
issues arising from the following fields:

  Access Networks
  B-ISDN, SDH and ATM
  Distributed Computing Platforms
  Economics, Regulatory and Technological Aspects
  Intelligent Networks
IP Services, Quality of Service, Routing and Congestion Control
Mobile Communication Networks including 3G Systems
  Ad Hoc Networking
  Mobility Management and Signalling
  UMTS Network Planning
  Wireless Communication
  Network Management
  Network Planning and Optimization
  Next Generation Networks
  Optical Networks and Elements
  Performance Analysis
Performance issues related to traffic and price
  Queueing Theory
  Reliability and Survivability
  Resource Planning
  Traffic Management and Control
  Teletraffic Engineering Methods and Practices
Traffic Modeling and Measurements and Simulation methods .

Paper Submission Instructions

Papers should not exceed 15 doubled-spaced pages (about 5000
words), have an abstract of 100-200 words, and be original material
not previously published or currently under review.

The title page should contain the authors' names, affiliation
and contact details (telephone, fax and e-mail). The key contact for
correspondence must be clearly indicated. It should also be indicated
up to three key topics, among the ones listed in the ITC 17 call for
papers , that best describe the contents of the paper.

All other pages should be marked with the title of the paper,
name of the corresponding author, and page numbers.

Only electronic submission will be accepted. Papers should be in
PDF or Postscript format, normal paragraph 11 pt, using one the
following fonts: Arial, Courier, Helvetica, Symbol, Times, Times New
Roman;

The site for electronic submission is not available yet.
Prospective authors are encouraged to send e-mail to the Technical
Secretariat so they can be notified as soon as the site is available.

A camera-ready version will be required until June 1st, 2001.

Submission implies at least one author will attend the
conference. Please adhere strictly to the submission timetable.

Any further question should be directed to the Technical
Secretariat
