ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

SEVENTEENTH UK TELETRAFFIC SYMPOSIUM
Networks - a Service Centred Approach

  Wednesday, 16 May to Friday, 18 May 2001
  to be held at the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, Dublin
    ______________________________________________________________

  The UKTS is an annual forum for discussing the performance
  engineering issues in evolving communications networks, and the new
  techniques that are being used to address them.

  Applications and services, perhaps through third party providers,
  are creating a range of interesting and pressing problems in all
  types of networks. New approaches are required to tackle these
  problems. UKTS17 will emphasise this important and complex area and
  papers that provide a review, solution to particular problems, or
  an insight into generic issues related to this theme will be
  especially welcome. However, work on any performance issues is of
  interest, and as a guide, the organising committee encourages
  submissions in the following areas:

  * Modelling for real-time IP services
  * Mobility and service provision
  * End system flow control
  * Pricing in wireless systems
  * Multi-media and IP
  * Multi-media local access
  * Services and multi-layer networks
  * IP and guaranteed QoS
  * QoS based routers
  * Virtual private networks
  * Next generation architectures
  * ISP traffic management
  * Router design and switch architectures
  * Traffic characterisation

  There will be invited presentations on key topics.

  Prospective authors are invited to submit a synopsis of approx. 250
  words by
  Monday, 26 February 2001 to:
