      CALL FOR PAPERS

               DIAL M for Mobility
           Fifth International Workshop on
           Discrete Algorithms and Methods
       for Mobile Computing and Communications

               July 21, 2001
                Rome, Italy
      In conjunction with ACM/IEEE Mobicom 2001

Mobile computing and communications devices such as portable
phones, laptops and palmtops will have an enormous impact on our
lifestyle over the next several decades. The introduction of
mobility raises a number of new research issues. This workshop is
devoted to discrete algorithms and discrete modelling in the
context of mobile and wireless computing and communications. It is
intended to be a lively meeting, covering many of the algorithmic
and discrete aspects of this field going from operations research
to radio engineering problems. It aims, in particular, at
fostering the cooperation among practitioners and theoreticians of
the field.

Papers are solicited in all research and applied areas related to
mobile and wireless computing and communications where discrete
algorithms and methods are used, including, but not limited to (in
alphabetical order):

  * cryptography and security * optimization
  * distributed algorithms     * routing
  * error correcting codes * satellite communication
  * frequency allocation       * scheduling
  * handover (handoff) * site allocation
  * location tracking          * synchronization
  * modelling                  * telecoms

We prefer electronic submissions to the workshop (see instructions
on the web site listed below). If not submitting electronically,
contact the electronic address listed below for instructions. A
submission must be received by MARCH 11, 2001 for consideration.
The paper should not exceed 10 single spaced pages using a
standard 10 point font. This limit EXCLUDES the following: cover
page, bibliography, and technical appendices.

Dual submission of papers to Mobicom and DIALM is encouraged: Any
paper accepted for Mobicom will automatically be removed from
consideration for DIALM.

Authors of accepted papers are expected to present their work at
the workshop. Workshop proceedings will be published by ACM.
