EUNICE 2001

Seventh EUNICE Open European Summer School in association with
IFIP Workshop on IP and ATM Traffic Management WATM'2001

Internet Quality Of Services and Security

September 3 - September 5, 2001
Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications and Institut National
des Telecommunications
Paris, France

Objectives of the Summer School
-------------------------------
The EUNICE network has been created to foster the mobility of students,
faculty members and research scientists working in the field of information
and communication technologies and to promote educational and research
cooperation between its member institutions.

The 2001 EUNICE Summer School, which will be the seventh of its kind,
focuses on Internet Quality Of Services QOS and Security. The main goal of
the Summer School is to give the researchers and particularly the Ph.D.
students the opportunity to present their work at an international level.
For the seventh occurrence, Eunice Summer School 2001 will be associated
with the international IFIP TC6 WATM'2001 event.

Beside the research papers presentations, the Summer School will also
include a number of tutorials, presented by experts in the field, and demo's
of courses and software developed within the EUNICE-Candle project.

Call for Contributions
----------------------

The deployment of the next generation fixed and mobile networks will induce
an important increase of the IP traffic. Furthermore, many of the new
Internet applications have real time constraints. So the next generation IP
networks will have to provide a multi-service environment where the QOS is
guaranteed. New applications like the e-commerce require security from the
network. The user and the service mobility should also be ensured within a
secure environment. In this Summer School we will discuss the techniques
behind the traffic engineering, the QOS and security provision within the
present and the next generation of IP networks.

Topics will include, but are not limited to:

Networking Infrastructures and Technologies
IP/MPLS/ATM/SONET/WDM
Wireless Networks (Wireless Internet, GPRS, WAP, 3G etc)
Switching and routing
Interworking and convergence of fixed, wireless and IP networks
Multicast
Routing Protocols and QoS routing
Traffic Engineering, Traffic Control and Resource Management
Network Performance and Quality of Service
Services and Applications
VOIP
Virtual Private Networks
Network security.
Mechanisms for security (IPsec, key distribution, authentification, )

Researchers and Ph.D. students, from institutes connected to the EUNICE
network as well as from other institutes, are invited to contribute to the
Summer School by submitting papers, tutorials and demonstrations on the
topics mentioned above.
