CALL FOR PAPERS

IEEE Transactions on Computers
Special Issue on Wireless Internet

THEME:
Wireless communications have made spectacular progress in recent years. In
particular, the merge of various wireless communication systems and the
Internet has become more critical so that users can enjoy all kinds of services
in the Internet while owning mobility. For example, modern wireless networks
can support Internet applications for web accessing and multimedia services.
Many issues need to be addressed for such combination. Host mobility adds a new
dimension to many research issues, such as network protocols, resource
managements, WWW access, security, and multimedia transmission. Different
wireless network architectures with various capacities, speeds, and services,
are being proposed. For different applications, diverse traffic types should be
supported. Light-weight computing devices, such as PDAs and Bluetooth devices,
with Internet-surfing capabilities will be mixed with traditional browsing
tools. Security-related issues must be address when accessing critical data.

RELATED TOPICS:
This special issue is targeted at the above issues related to wireless
communication when the Internet is involved. Authors are invited to submit
previously unpublished papers to this special issue. Topics include, but are
not limited to:

o Wireless Internet Network Architecture (3G, Ad Hoc network, Bluetooth, etc.)
o Mobility Management for Wireless Internet Network (Mobile IP, ANSI-41,
      GSM MAP, etc.)
o Wireless Voice-Over-IP Protocols (H.323, MGCP, Megaco, SIP, etc.)
o Wireless Internet Applications (WWW Accessing, Multimedia, etc.)
o Wireless Internet Protocols (WAP, MExE, etc.)
 o Security for Wireless Internet
o Fault Tolerance (HLR, VLR, HSS Failure Recovery, Route Availability, etc.)
 o Analytic Modeling and Simulation
