   OECC CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

   The Optoelectronics and Communications Conference (OECC) is intended
   to provide an international forum for the presentation and the
   discussion of significant progress of research, development and
   applications of optical communication systems and optoelectronics. The
   conference will also offer tutorials, and other relevant events, and
   will particularly give opportunities to have interaction among
   participants from the ongoing Asian Pacific and Oceanian areas. The
   seventh conference (OECC 2002) will be held on July 8-12, 2002 at
   Pacifico Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan.


   TECHNICAL PROGRAM

   The OECC 2002 technical program will consist of parallel regular
   sessions with oral presentations and poster sessions. The following
   list shows typical topics but does not preclude other related areas.

   The official language of the Conference will be English, which will be
   used for all printed materials, presentations, and discussions.

   LOCATION OF CONFERENCE SITE

   The Conference site, Pacifico Yokohama (
   http://www.pacifico.co.jp/index-e.htm) in Kanagawa Prefecture, can be
   reached in about 30 minutes by car from downtown area of Tokyo.
   Pacifico Yokohama is reachable in about 12 minutes by movable walkway
   from Sakuragi-cho Station of Japan Railway (JR) Keihin-Tohoku Line or
   of Tokyu Toyoko Line, which is a few minutes from Yokohama Station and
   30 minutes by train from Tokyo.


   RELATED EXHIBITION : InterOpto 2002

   InterOpto 2002 (International Optoelectronics Exhibition 2002) will be
   held at Makuhari Messe from July 16 to July 19 organized by
   Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Development Association
   (OITDA). Number of visitors and booths are estimated 80,000 and 600,
