Applications and Technologies (PDCAT) is a major forum for scientists,
engineers, and practitioners throughout the world to present the
latest research, results, ideas, developments and applications in all
areas of parallel and distributed computing. Following PDCAT'00 in
Hong Kong, PDCAT'01 in Taipei, PDCAT'02 will be held in Kanazawa,
Japan. We are inviting new and unpublished papers on, but not limited
to, the following topics:

Networking and Architectures:
   - Interconnection networks

   - Parallel/distributed architectures
   - Communication and telecommunication
   - Heterogeneous and multimedia Systems
   - Wireless networks and mobile computing
   - ATM networks
   - Optical networks
   - Reliability and fault-tolerance
   - Security

Software Systems and Technologies:
   - Formal methods and programming languages
   - Parallelizing compilers
   - Internet computing
   - Web technologies
   - Component-based and OO Technology
   - Operating systems
   - Modeling and simulation
   - Performance evaluation and measurements
   - Tools and environments for software development
   - Visualization

Algorithms and Applications:
   - Parallel/distributed algorithms
   - Resource allocation and management
   - Task mapping and job scheduling
   - Network routing and communication algorithms
   - Distributed data and knowledge based systems
   - Neural networks
   - Image processing and computer graphics
   - Database applications and data mining
   - High-performance scientific computing
   - Biological/molecular computing

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Papers reporting original and unpublished research results and
experience are solicited. Papers will be selected based on their
originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of
presentation. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the
conference proceedings. Submissions should include an abstract, key
words, the e-mail address of the corresponding author, and must not
exceed 15 pages, including tables and figures. Submissions imply the
willingness of at least one author to register, attend the conference,
and present the paper. Submissions to PDCAT'02 will be conducted
electronically. Authors unable to access e-mail may send 4 hard copies
of their papers to:

It is planned that a selection of papers from PDCAT'02 will be
published in a special issue of IEICE Transactions on Software and
Systems.

TUTORIALS/WORKSHOP
Workshops/special sessions and half-day tutorials are being planned
for PDCAT'02. Each workshop will focus on a particular topic, and
consists of several presentations and open discussion. A one-page
abstract of each workshop presentation will be published in the
conference proceedings. The proposal for a workshop/special session
should include the title, topics covered, proposed/invited speakers,
and estimated length (hours) of the workshop. Each tutorial proposal
should provide the title, topics, targeted audiences, and instructor's
biography. Anyone wishing to organize a workshop/special session or
tutorial should submit a proposal by June 1, 2002 to the conference
address (preferably via email) listed above.
