Workshop on High-Speed Networking (formerly GBN) 2002 - Call for Papers
23 June 2002 - New York, New York
Sponsored by the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Gigabit Networking
in conjunction with INFOCOM 2002
Purpose and Format
The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for presenting and
discussing very recent work in high-speed networking and to raise relevant
issues to the general networking community in a timely manner. It will
take place from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM with lunch provided. There will be
an open business meeting of the Technical Committee on Gigabit Networking
following the workshop at 5:00 PM.
The workshop will consist of a number of short informal presentations
and discussion on current research and implementation, hot topics,
position statements, and controversial opinions. All issues relating to
high bandwidth networking are relevant, including link layer protocols
for optical and wireless networks, large fast switch and router design,
transport and higher layer protocols, host and network interface
architecture, operating systems, emerging services and applications,
testbeds and deployment, network control and management, economic and
regulatory issues, security and privacy, and other societal impacts. We
are particularly interested in issues related to networks that can be
scaled to a high (number of users) x (throughput per user) product.
Discussion/Panel Sessions
There will be sessions reserved for interactive discussion. Suggestions
for particular topics are welcome (email tcgn@ieee.org and cc: to the
program chairs); controversial topics and outrageous viewpoints are
encouraged. Presentations will appear in the online proceedings of the
workshop, under URL http://www.comsoc.org/tcgn/conference/hsn2002.
Special Sessions
The special sessions will be announced in the near future.
Suggestions are welcome. The following three special sessions were
held last year: Wireless/Mobile Networks (organized by Ian Akyildiz
of Georgia Tech), Congestion Control/Scheduling in High-Speed Networks
(organized by T. Znati of NSF/ANIR) and Optical Networks (organized
by Chunming Qiao). Featured speakers included R. Cruz of UC San Diego,
D. Raychaudhuri of Rutgers, A. Ephremides of U. Maryland/College Park,
S. Low of Caltech, G. Ellinas of Tellium, E. Modiano and M. Medard, both
from MIT.
Submission
Submission of a one page abstract is due 19 April 2002, and must
be in plain text by email to the program chair at modiano@mit.edu.
Please include the text "HSN 2002 Submission" in the Subject: field.
All submissions will be quickly acknowledged (otherwise contact the
program chair to confirm receipt). Notification will be made by
20 May 2002. Annotated electronic versions of the presentation foils
are due 10 June 2002, to be included in the online proceedings prior to
the workshop.
Registration
Registration for the workshop will be handled as part of
INFOCOM 2002 registration; information is available on the
web at http://www.ieee-infocom.org/2002. This HSN 2002 CFP and
additional information on the workshop are available on the web at
http://www.comsoc.org/tcgn, or by email to the program chairs.
