DSN-2002
The International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks
Washington, DC, June 23rd - 26th, 2002
DSN-2002 will be held in Bethesda, Maryland, in the capital region of the
USA. DSN-2002 represents the continuation of over three decades of
tradition in the field of dependable computing. In 2000, two established
conferences, the International Symposium on Fault-Tolerant Computing
(FTCS) and the Working Conference on Dependable Computing for Critical
Applications (DCCA), were combined to form the DSN track now called
Dependable Computing and Communications. This year, it is also our
pleasure to bring another major symposium, the International Performance
and Dependability Symposium (IPDS), under the DSN umbrella.
Computer systems and communications networks now pervade every aspect of
our daily lives. While that has benefited society and increased our
productivity, it has also made our lives more critically dependent on
their correct functioning. The traditional concerns of the dependability
community (e.g., inadvertent faults, errors, and failures) have now been
enlarged by the massive connectivity provided by the Internet to include
malicious exploitation of imperfect systems and networks and intentional
cyber-attacks on them. How can we build systems that are not vulnerable to
such threats - systems that users can depend upon in transportation,
financial, and e-commerce sectors or even just for entertainment?
The DSN conference this year will have multiple tracks that include
Dependable Computing and Communications and the International Performance
and Dependability Symposium, as well as several workshops and tutorials, a
student forum, and late-breaking research. DSN will thus provide a forum
for researchers, practitioners, and users to learn and exchange
information on the latest research results in dependable systems and
networks.
Conference Structure
The International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks features a
number of coordinated tracks that include Dependable Computing and
Communications and the International Performance and Dependability
Symposium, as well as several workshops, encompassing presentations of new
research results, practical experience reports, software, system and tool
demonstrations, panels on topics of current interest, tutorials, a student
forum and fast abstracts. These activities aim to provide a comprehensive
informative program for professionals, researchers, managers and students.
DSN-2002 invites you to contribute to its
broad-based program by submitting in one or more of the categories
outlined below.
Regular papers
report on recent research results.
Practical Experience Reports
provide in-depth description of an experience or a case study. Software &
System Demonstrations and Tool
Demonstrations
