In Co-operation with IEEE Communications Society
The Fourth IEEE Conference on Mobile and Wireless Communications
Networks (MWCN 2002) will be held in Stockholm, the capital of
Sweden, centre for research and innovation in mobile and wireless
communications in northern Europe, where its industry having a
global impact in dominating the R&D of successive generations of
mobile systems, in particular GSM and third generation mobile
networks. The MWCN 2002 is organised and will be hosted by KTH
centre for wireless systems, Royal Institute of Technology in
Stockholm during September 9-11, 2002.
MWCN'2002 is the fourth conference in its series aimed at
stimulating technical exchange in the emerging and important field
of mobile and wireless communications networks. MWCN'2002 seeks to
address and capture highly innovative and state of the art research
and work in the wireless industry. The scope of the conference
includes a wide range of technical challenges in view of the
growing interest for wireless access to Internet and the evolution
of third generation cellular systems included ITU IMT/UMTS. The
conference also accepts progress on IST European Commission funded
research projects.
Radio interface design, adaptive antennas and arrays and indoor
propagation, measurement and predictions also will be considered. A
growing number of digital devices inside homes and the application
of Ultra Wide Band, as well as Spectrum efficiency and low power
consumption including low cost and secure wireless personal access
are some of the areas to be considered in this conference.
In the last few years with the development of digital technologies,
satellites have also emerged in the forefront of multimedia
delivery techniques. From using current digital broadcast systems
for web access to developing sophisticated platform for integrated
services. Satellite networking is now a well-established solution
for the broadband needs of the new millennium.
MWCN 2002 is a forum for researchers to discuss and present their
recent results and discovery. Topics of interest include but are
not limited to the following:
Management
- Resource and Information Management
Architecture
- Convergence of Fixed and Mobile Devices
- Low-Power End-Devices and Wireless Communications
Security
- Security in Mobile Networks

The official language of the conference for submission of a paper
and or an extended abstract and view graphs is English. This
conference will identify the theoretical and actual problems that
face designers of today's complex problems associated with mobile
and wireless communications networks. The participants will show
test results of experiments from building prototype systems,
explore modelling and simulation tools as well as analytical
methodologies and techniques for dealing with wireless systems. The
objective of this event is to foster the exchange of information
among researchers in this fast-moving field.
The program will include presentations by distinguished
researchers, speaking on recent advances in theory and practice.
This conference also intends to bring together various mobile and
wireless network systems developers to discuss the current status,
technical challenges, standards, fundamental issues, and future
services and applications in the form of workshops, business
applications sessions and tutorials. It is also intended to provide
a timely forum for exploratory research and practical contributions
from North America, Europe, The Middle East, and the Far East.
The first MWCN 97 took place at Sorbonne University, Paris, France
May 12-15, 1997. The MWCN 2000 took place at the Cite des Sciences,
La Villette, Paris, France May 16-17, 2000. The MWCN 2001 was held
in Recife, Brazil during August 2001. MWCN'2002 event will be held
in Stockholm Sweden and MWCN 2003 will be held in Singapore.
