Conference Scope:
Pervasive computing and communications is emerging as an exciting new
paradigm with a goal to provide computing and communication services
all the time, everywhere. This emergence is a natural outcome of
research and technological advances in wireless networks, mobile
computing, distributed computing and agent technologies. PerCom is the
annual IEEE conference on pervasive computing and communications and
as such it will provide a high profile, leading edge forum for
researchers and engineers alike to present their latest advances in
the field of pervasive computing and communications. PerCom2003 will
also feature two special tracks on intelligent environments and mobile
agents.
Feature Topics:
Contributions are solicited in all pervasive computing research and
applied areas. These include, but are not limited to the following
feature topics:
o Pervasive computing architectures
o Intelligent environments
o Wearable computers
o Smart devices and smart spaces
o Location-dependent / personalized applications
o Service discovery mechanisms
o Agent technologies
o Sensors and actuators
o Positioning and tracking technologies
o Identification and authentication technologies
o Integration of wired and wireless networks
o Personal area networks
o Enabling technologies such as Bluetooth, 802.11 and 802.15
o Software coordination models
o Mobile / wireless computing systems and services
o Context based and implicit computing
o Speech processing / advanced computer vision
o User interfaces and interaction models
o Wireless/mobile service management and delivery
o Ad hoc networking protocols and service discovery
o Resource management in pervasive computing platforms
o Security and privacy issues of pervasive computing systems
Submission Guidelines:
Papers must be unpublished and must not be submitted for publication
elsewhere. Authors are encouraged to submit papers in electronic form:
postscript or PDF only. The page limit for submissions is 15 pages
(single column, 12 pt characters, 1.5 line spaced, excluding
references, figures and tables). More details on submission procedures
will be posted on the official PerCom website: http://www.percom.org.
All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous review process managed by
the technical program committee; with the conference proceedings
published by IEEE. Papers of particular merit will be considered for
publication in a special issue of a leading journal.
