Internet Measurement Conference 2003
Sponsored by ACM SIGCOMM and co-sponsored by USENIX
October 27-29, 2003
Miami, Florida, USA

   The Internet Measurement Conference is a two and a half day event
   focusing on Internet measurement and analysis, following on the
   success of the 2001 Internet Measurement Workshop and the 2002
   Internet Measurement Workshop. Submissions should contribute to the
   current understanding of how to collect or analyze Internet
   measurements, or give insight into how the Internet behaves. Examples
   of relevant topics are:
     * Workload characterization and traffic analysis
     * Software tools and environments in support of measurement
     * Traffic engineering and measurement of traffic matrices
     * Web, peer-to-peer, and overlay measurements
     * Inter-domain and intra-domain routing
     * Network topology
     * Multimedia streaming and gaming
     * Technologies for data sharing, such as anonymization
     * Measurement-based inference of network properties
     * Reassessment/testing of previous measurement findings
     * Design of monitoring systems, sampling methods, and anomaly
       detection
     * Measurement validation of simulation/testbed findings
     * Measurement-based modeling

   Papers that do not in some fashion rely on measuring Internet
   properties are out of scope.

   The workshop is open to two forms of submissions:
     * Full papers (up to 14 two-column pages) should exhibit
       succinctness appropriate to the topics and themes they discuss.
     * Extended abstracts (up to 6 two-column pages), conveying work
       expected to mature by the time of the workshop. Note, though, that
       extended abstracts accepted for the workshop will still be subject
       to a 6-page limit in the proceedings.

   Submissions must be in electronic form, as plain text, Postscript, or
   PDF documents. The submission must conform to the page limits stated
   above, and the main text body must be written in a 10 point (or
   larger) serif font. All manuscripts must be in English. Submissions
   that do not comply with these requirements will be unread.

   Submissions must be registered in advance. Registration will be
   confirmed via email, including the assignment of a paper number. The
   top of the first page of each submitted paper should include the title
   of the paper, the authors, the registration number, and the number of
   pages in the submission. Check
   http://www.icir.org/vern/imc-2003/register.html  in  April,  2003, for
   registration instructions.

   Important dates:
     * May 9, 2003, 11PM Eastern Daylight Time: Registration of title and
       250-word abstract
     * May 16, 2003, 11PM Eastern Daylight Time: HARD submission deadline
     * July 18, 2003: Notification
     * August 22, 2003: Camera Ready Copy due
     * October 27-29, 2003: Conference held in Miami, USA

   All full papers and extended abstracts accepted for presentation at
   the workshop will be published by ACM in proceedings. In addition to
   the published proceedings, the Program Committee may also select a few
   papers for fast-track submission for possible publication in IEEE/ACM
   Transactions on Networking. There may also be an opportunity to
   present some papers that are not accepted in a poster session.

   The workshop will present a best student paper award for the top paper
   with a student as the primary author and contributor.

   Note: We have been aware of several non-U.S. researchers who have had
   difficulty obtaining a visitor visa to attend technical conferences in
   the U.S. We suggest that such researchers apply for a U.S. visa as
   soon as possible due to the known delays. ACM will attempt to provide
   a letter of support when requested. Requests for visa support letters
   should be sent to imc2003-visa@icsi.berkeley.edu.
