BROADBAND WIRELESS - THE TIME IS NOW!
Once again co-located with the Cellular Telecommunications Industry
Association's premier tradeshow CTIA Wireless 2004, WCNC 2004 will offer the
best tutorial, research and industry-oriented technical content on
terrestrial wireless communication in all its forms. As the
multimedia-oriented 3G cellular mobile, very high speed WLAN (wireless LAN)
and new fixed wireless systems become available to consumers, the theme and
focus of this conference is broadband wireless communication technologies,
systems and services. Theory and practice are inseparable as researchers
and developers evolve ways to use spectrum more efficiently, interoperate
different air interfaces and networking systems, utilize both infrastructure
and ad-hoc networking techniques, support multimedia QoS (quality of
service) and exploit the newest coding, detection and bandwidth-spreading
technologies.

Contributions are solicited in (but not limited to) the following topical
areas:

- Evolving systems (3G/4G, WLAN, WPAN, WMAN, emergency services radio)
- Software-defined radio - Multiple air interface devices
- Space-Time Processing, MIMO systems - Modulation, detection, and channel equalization
- Ultra Wideband (UWB) - Media-oriented networking; QoS support
- MAC and network-level security systems - AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting)
- Wireless indoor & home networks - Power control systems and low power circuits
- Ad-hoc networks - Heterogeneous networks
- Digital signal processing - Sensor Devices and Networks
- Channel characterization - Standards and regulation
- Interference and compatibility issues - Interference mitigation (e.g. "writing on dirty paper")
- Handset design/user interfaces - Wireless networked appliances
- Wireless multimedia applications - Wireless resilient networking
- Economics and business cases - Industry views on future systems and networks
- Cellular mobile/WLAN interoperability - Medium access issues (QoS, fairness)
- Wireless emergency systems - Innovative user interfaces
- Micromobility - Information technology in wireless communications

Papers of no more than 6 double-spaced (10-point font) printed pages,
including figures, should be submitted via the author's web page,
www.wcnc.org/2004/authors. The paper schedule is as follows:

September 15, 2003 Submission deadline
December 1, 2004 Notification of acceptance/rejection decision
January 5, 2004 Deadline for final revised paper

CALL FOR TUTORIAL PROPOSALS: Half/full day tutorial proposals are solicited
based the areas above or others related to issues and opportunities for the
future of wireless communications and its applications. Proposals must be
received no later than September 15, 2003. See Tutorial Program Development
Questionnaire (TDQ). Instructors of accepted tutorials will receive
financial compensation.

CALL FOR BUSINESS APPLICATIONS SESSION (BAS) TOPICS: BAS topical proposals
are also solicited based on the areas referenced above or related business
