Location
Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th century. It is situated in the southern part of Croatia. It is the
administrative centre of the Dubrovnik - Neretva County and the focal point of a developed tourist region of
Dubrovacko primorje, Zupa Dubrovacka, Cavtat, the islands of Korcula, Lastovo, Mljet, Sipan, Lopud,
Kolocep, the peninsula of Peljesac and the agriculturally rich Neretva Valley and Konavle. The old city of
Dubrovnik, nicknamed "the pearl of Adriatic", is a city renown for its beauty, rich in cultural and historical
monuments and it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. One of the lovely features of Dubrovnik
is that one can make a tour of its churches, monasteries, museums, palaces and city walls on foot.
International Centre of Croatian Universities ICCU is a part of the University of Zagreb and has a long
tradition of hosting scientific events. It is situated in the vicinity of Pile, the western entrance to the old city
of Dubrovnik and it is within walking distance of a number of hotels.
