Call for Papers Telecommunication Systems (Kluwer Academic Publishers) Special Issue on "Multimedia Streaming over Next Generation Telecommunication Networks" Research and development efforts in mobile and wireless telecommunication systems and networks enable the rapid growth of fixed and wireless broadband network infrastructures. Innovations in media processing, storage, retrieval and networking promise to enable anywhere and anytime multimedia solutions, across a wide spectrum of commercial, educational, entertainment and consumer domains. Though there is not yet defined a real "killer application", the most foreword looking ones are touted to be multimedia based, optimised over the IP layer. Supporting streaming multimedia applications and services over next generation wireless and wireline telecommunication networks is challenging due to constraints such as high heterogeneity, high-rate limited bandwidth, randomly time-varying network interference, stringent quality of service (QoS) requirements, interoperability, etc. The objective of this session is to present state-of-the-art research and developing activities contributing to all facets of multimedia streaming across next generation all-IP networks. The session will serve as a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art research, development, and implementations of networked multimedia systems and technologies with special emphasis on multimedia streaming. We solicit papers covering a variety of topics including, but not limited to: - Wireline/Wireless Applications Internetworking - "Killer" wireless multimedia applications - End-to-end QoS control and scheduling - VoIP, IP Video, streaming, interactive video service management - Mobility in multimedia - Multimedia over next generation wireless networks - Streaming Multimedia over wireless ad hoc networks - Multimedia over wireless peer-to-peer networks - Robust and resilient video coding, transcoding and transport Submission Guideline --------------------- Authors should follow the Telecommunication Systems manuscript format described at http://www.kluweronline.com/issn/1018-4864.
