Call For Papers
To be held in conjunction with
The 29th Annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN 2004)
16th-18th November 2004, Tampa, Florida
(Please also visit http://www.ieeelcn.org)
Keynote Speaker: Professor Daniela Rus, CSAIL, MIT
The First Workshop on Embedded Networked Sensors (EmNetS) will bring
together researchers working in the broad area of embedded, networked
sensors. The goal of the workshop is to promote community-wide
discussion of nascent but innovative ideas, spanning a wide spectrum
of technical issues in the area of sensor networks. We particularly
encourage submissions exploring how practical considerations or novel
application scenarios and requirements shape the design of these
sensor networks.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Algorithms, protocols and systems for communication, coordination,
data dissemination and storage, sensor tasking and
control/actuation
* Energy and resource management, sharing, quality of service,
operating system support for sensor networks.
* Experimental and measurement tools and results from operational
sensor networks
* Sensor network deployment and management, traffic engineering, and
real-world experience
* Reliability and fault-tolerance, debugging and troubleshooting for
sensor networks
* Novel applications for sensor networks
* Sensor network security, vulnerabilities and defenses
* Programmable architectures and infrastructure for sensor networks
* Lessons about scalability and energy-efficiency, insights and
models of the structure and behavior of sensor networks
Papers will be selected based on their originality, technical merit
and topical relevance. Submission instructions will be posted at the
workshop website.
Important Dates (Proposed):
* Submissions due: 1 June 2004
* Notification of Acceptance: 28 July 2004
* Camera-ready copy due: 25 August 2004
* Author registration deadline: 20 August 2004
* Workshop: 16 November 2004
Paper Submission Instructions:
Authors are invited to submit full or short papers for presentation at
the workshop. Full papers (no more than 8 camera-ready pages, 10pt
font in IEEE format) should present novel perspectives within the
general scope of the workshop. Short papers are an opportunity to
present preliminary or interim results and are limited to 2
camera-ready pages in length. Short papers will be presented in a
poster format and published in the proceedings. Only original papers
that have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere
can be submitted. Papers in excess of page limits shall not be
considered for review or publication. All papers must include title,
complete contact information for all authors, abstract, and keywords
on the cover page. The corresponding author must be clearly
identified.
Authors are required to submit their papers through the EDAS web site
http://www.edas.info/ in three steps:
* Creation of a personal account on EDAS (if you are new to EDAS).
* Registration of the paper (requiring a short abstract of up to 150
words).
* Upload of the paper, in PDF format only.
Authors can always re-upload their manuscripts before the deadline.
The new uploaded manuscript will overwrite the existing one.
An example paper template can be found here.
Paper acceptance system will be open from 1st April 2004.
For help with EDAS please contact the EDAS Administrator
(edas-help@edas.info).
The authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their paper will be
presented at the conference. At least one author of each accepted
paper must be registered for the workshop by August 20, 2004, in order
for that paper to appear in the proceedings and to be scheduled for
presentation.
