Wireless Communications in China: Technology vs. Markets

   Background

There has been tremendous interest recently in China's wireless mobile
markets, research, and business opportunities, because China has the
largest wireless mobile subscriber population and research hub in the
world. It is expected that China's wireless market revenue will exceed US
$200 billion in 2008. Advanced wireless mobile systems have been (or have
the potential to be) deployed in China. Furthermore, business/market
factors in this area in China are unique since they are Government driven
and mixed with culture, technology, and market forces. The objective of
this special issue is to present recent developments in research,
development, and deployment of China's emerging wireless mobile
communications network, as well as perspectives on China's future wireless
mobile technology and market. The special issue is timely and valuable for
future research and strategy activities, as well as market analysis in
   China.

   Scope of Contributions

Contributions are solicited that discuss recent research, development,
deployment, application, and business issues relating to China's wireless
mobile communications. The topics of interest include but are not limited
   to:

     o China's 3G deployment and optimization
     o China's 3G and 4G research and development
o China's emerging open wireless architecture
o China's new wireless business model
o China's emerging wireless industry in the next decade
o China's wireless industry standardization and regulation issues

Papers can be of tutorial nature or present new research and development
material. Authors must follow the IEEE Communications Magazine guidelines
regarding the manuscript and its format. For details, please refer to the
"Information for Authors" at the IEEE Communications Magazine Web site
   (http://www.comsoc.org/pubs/commag/sub_guidelines.html)
