CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Workshop on Wireless and Mobile Technologies in VR
November 9, 2004
Hong Kong
In conjunction with the
ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology
Paper Submission: August 15, 2004
In recent years, there has been rapid progress in Wireless and Mobile Technologies.
A variety of new technologies have been developed and rapidly accepted in the marketplace.
These technologies have enabled access to information in ways which were earlier not
possible. This has created a great opportunity to use these technologies to enhance
VR systems - in their technical capability, in interaction and usability, and finally,
in applications.
This workshop will provide a platform to present work in progress as well as conceptual work
in the area. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
- Architectures for wireless VR
- Use of mobile devices in VR
- Integrating wireless and wired simulations
- Cellular and WiFi networks in VR
- Innovative applications leveraging wireless and mobile devices in VR
- VR interaction using mobile devices
- Wireless VR communities
- Wireless mobile entertainment platforms
- VR content repurposing for wireless and mobile delivery
The workshop will be held as a half-day event on November 9, 2004 from 1:00PM-5:00PM,
and will provide both time for presenting papers and for the formation of break-out
groups to discuss relevant issues concerning topics covered at the workshop.
