Wireless ad hoc and sensor networks are important and challenging research
areas that emerge from the integration among personal computing, distributed
computing, and wireless technology. A number of interesting and difficult
issues arise in this area, such as energy consumption, location management,
resource allocation, network connectivity, and reliability and security.
This track is intended to cover contributions in design and analysis of
algorithms, system modeling, performance evaluation, implementation issues,
and applications in the context of wireless ad hoc and sensor networks.
This track also covers the security aspects of communication networks.
The volume of the network attacks is increasing rapidly and the
vulnerabilities are getting exploited more quickly. Distributed
Denial-of-Service is still posing a great threat and it is rather
challenging to identify the attackers. Submissions are sought in wireless
security, attack characterization, new protocols and algorithms with
improved security, and advances in attack detection/blocking software or
hardware implementations. We encourage submissions in all areas of research
concerning the Internet security and wireless network security.
Original papers are solicited in the areas of wireless ad hoc/sensor
networks, wireless applications, and network security. Papers must represent
high quality and previously unpublished work, not currently under review
by another conference, workshop, or journal. Potential areas of interest
include, but are not limited to, the following:
Topics:
.Physical: modulation/demodulation, transceiver design, multi-packet
reception (MPR), directional antennas, ultra wideband (UWB),
power management, equalization/synchronization, etc.
.MAC: channel allocation, TDMA, CDMA, network discovery and maintenance,
error detection and control, etc.
.Network: energy-aware routing schemes, multicasting, scheduling and load
balancing, joint scheduling and power control, congestion and admission
control, mobility and location management, fault-tolerance, etc.
.Cross-layer designs: integration of physical, MAC, network, and
application layers
.Quality of Service (QoS) issues
.Application-oriented network management and traffic management
.Applications: mobile commerce, telemedical, biological, etc.
.Wireless applications using RFID and GPS sensors
.Self-configurable wearable ad hoc networks
.Performance evaluation and modeling of wireless ad hoc and sensor networks
.Wireless personal area networks (IEEE 802.15.3a, IEEE 802.15.4a)
.Vulnerabilities in various Internet protocols
.Multimedia in wireless networks
.Issues of privacy in wireless systems
.Distributed systems aspects of wireless networking
.Wireless peer-to-peer applications
.Wireless network attacks and defenses
.DDoS attack detection and blocking mechanisms
.IP traceback and attack source traceback
.Detection and blocking of worms and viruses
.Firewalls/ Honeypot/ NIDS /NIPS
.PKI/ Digital Signature/ Key exchange protocols
.Email security/ Spam mail blocking
.Steganography
.New attack trends and attack statistics
Paper Submission:
Papers should be original and contain contributions of theoretical or
experimental nature, or be unique experience reports. Your submission
should include the author names, complete mailing addresses, telephone and
fax numbers, and the email addresses of the authors. Interested authors
should submit a up to 8-page description of their original and unpublished
work
including 5 keywords in the IEEE format to the co-chairs. Electronic
submission in the PDF, PS or MS Word format is strongly encouraged.
For instructions on electronic submissions, please visit
http://www.softconf.com/start/ITCC2005/submit.html.
Evaluation Process:
Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and
soundness.
Per ITCC policy, except for invited papers, all papers will be reviewed by
at least two independent reviewers. Accepted papers will be published in the
conference proceedings with an ISBN and in IEEE digital library. Selected
track papers presented in the conference will be considered for publication
in a special issue of an international journal.
Best Student Paper:
The Best Student Paper will be awarded at the conference. To be eligible,
the student must be the sole author of the paper, or the first author and
primary contributor. (The winner of the award will present the paper in
a plenary session at the conference). A cover letter to the General
Chair/Track Chair must identify the paper as a candidate for this
competition
at the time of submission.
