The 1st International Workshop on Performance Modelling in Wired,
Wireless and Mobile Networking and Computing
in conjunction with
11th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems
(ICPADS-2005)
July 20-22, 2005, Japan
www.inf.brad.ac.uk/pmw2m05
There has been tremendous interest recently in the convergence of wired
(fixed) networks and mobile wireless and local wireless access systems
and networks. B3G and 4G have been the very hot subject of much
research and many standardization activities throughout the world. Many
B3G/4G related technical committees are taking the initiative to
produce enhanced proposals of radio transmission technologies, wireless
applications protocols, All-IP wireless network architectures, super
signal processing and advanced system prototypes for B3Gwireless and
4Gmobile. However, there are several performance issues that need to be
addressed and resolved before a global and wide-scale integrated
broadband infrastructure of convergent multi-service networks can be
established towards the next generation Internet with efficient support
of multimedia applications. The purpose of this workshop is to provide
an international forum for researchers and industry practitioners to
present their state-of-art research on performance modelling and
evaluation studies in all aspects of wired and wireless networking and
computing and to exchange ideas and explore new avenues of
collaborations.
Performance studies in (but not limited to) the following topics are
welcome:
* Open Fixed and Wireless Architectures
* Traffic characterisation
* Quality of Service provisioning in wired and wireless networks
* Analytical and numerical modelling, Queueing system and network
models.
* Convergence of 3Gwireless and Internet, e.g. Secured Wireless Mobile
Internet
* Radio Transmission Technology for B3G and 4G,
* Software Definable Base Station system for B3G and 4G
* Enhanced services for B3G and 4G, e.g. wireless stream, e-commerce
* Re-configurability issues for flexible B3G/4G system platforms 2G -
3G - 4G migration and evolution issues
* WLAN systems and Networks; Bluetooth, WiFi, HIPERLAN 2, WiMax,
* Wireless Mobile ATM (wmATM) technologies, Broadband Mobile Wireless
* Smart antenna, Antenna array, MIMO and Digital Beam Forming, etc.
* B3G/4G Wireless Applications Protocol, e.g. OMA, wireless-Java, MAP
* B3G/4G Satellite technology, Space Internet technology, On-Board
Wireless
* Mobility management and handover issues
* Bandwidth on Demand issues, e.g. scheduler , resource allocation
* Access control, channel allocation, wireless packet,
* Routing Algorithms, multicast routing in fixed and wireless networks
* Ad-Hoc wireless issues, Wireless Router, Mobile Base-station
* OFDM, Turbo Codes, Smart Codes and Adaptive Modulations, etc
* Wireless Video, Wireless Multimedia, Wireless Streaming, etc
