PIMRC 2005
Call for Papers - PIMRC 2005
The 16th Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal Indoor and Mobile
Radio Communications
International Congress Center (ICC)
Berlin, Germany
September 11 - 14, 2005
About PIMRC 2005
PIMRC enjoys an outstanding reputation and represents a new trend in
international conferences, one which is well suited to the evolving global
market. It is uniquely identified by:
* Balance among academia, industry, and governmental organisations,
* Truly international technical program endorsed by IEEE, IEE, IEICE and
VDE,
* Flexible organisation tailored to the conference venue.
The convergence of systems and the all-IP approach have become important
concepts for wireless communications. PIMRC 2005 for the first time offers a
platform to bring together the computer networking and wireless
communications research communities. Accordingly, contributions are
encouraged from the networking research community that address Telco- and IP
networks convergence and IETF based approaches as well as contributions from
computer science research covering mobile computing, service platforms and
mobile applications.
The PIMRC 2005 co-chairs would like to invite leading re-searchers from
regional programmes towards Beyond 3G systems to present their work. In this
context we are inviting contributions from research programs, e.g.,
* China's 863 B3G project FuTURE
* Europe's B3G projects
* USA's activities in IETF/FCC/TIA on beyond 3GPP2
* Korea's concepts on Broadband Radio Networks
* Japan's initiatives in the mobile Information Technology Forum (mITF)
* IEEE Project 802: Task Groups on wireless broadband

Conference City
For the first time PIMRC takes place in Berlin, the old and new German
capital in the centre of Europe. No other city in Germany reflects the
historical events of the last few years and even for the last century to the
extent Berlin does.
Venue
The ICC Berlin, Europe's largest convention centre, is located centrally
within Berlin, a vibrant city now situated at the heart of the new Europe.
An effective local transport system and taxi network ensure that all sites
in the city can be reached quickly and conveniently. There are numerous
busses and an underground station which serve the ICC Berlin. Berlin is easy
to reach from all over the globe .. and Tegel Airport is a mere 10 minute
drive away from the ICC Berlin. Schönefeld Airport is linked directly to the
ICC Berlin via one of the suburban rail lines (S-Bahn).

Berlin is a city in transition, one that is not always easy to understand,
and which is often quite difficult to describe. However, no other city in
Germany reflects the historical events of the last few years to the extent
Berlin does. Today, Berlin is the workshop of German unity. As the capital
of Germany and the seat of the Federal German Government and Parliament,
Berlin is a microcosm of German Unification. It is developing into a
metropolis of science, culture, media and business. The universities and
research institutes, the opera houses, theatres, museums and libraries are
just as much attractions to this city as its colourful neighbourhoods and
the charming landscape of woods and lakes surrounding it.
