International Workshop on Databases for Mobile Communications System
March 8-11, 2006, Dubai UAE

In conjunction with The 4th ACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer
Systems and Applications (AICCSA-06)

Aims and Scope

Together with portable computing wireless communication technologies have
become very popular. As the mobile system technology matures further, more
people will become mobile users communicating with one another and accessing
various information resources using portable computers, personal digital
assistants, wireless radio and cellular equipment. In business environments,
the ability to access critical data regardless of location is even more
crucial because corporate data must be available to applications running on
mobile workstations. The focus of this workshop is on mobility issues in
databases and to stimulate interest in this emerging area, expose natural
collaboration among the participants, inform the larger research community
of the interest and importance of this topic and create a permanent forum
for evaluating research activities.

The objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers and
practitioners with mobile networking background and database research
interests to discuss all aspects of the emerging mobile database paradigm.
Both theoretical papers and papers reporting implementation and practical
results are solicited. The topics of interest include, but are not limited
to:

Data models for mobile information systems
Impact of mobility in distributed applications
Software architectures for mobile database systems
Wireless communications supporting database applications
Infrastructure for mobile database research
Object oriented technologies for mobile computing
Mobile database management and mobility
Data transfer performance of mobile communications system
Operating system support for mobile computing
Mobile transaction processing
Management of network & mobile computers heterogeneity
Mobile database recovery and checkpointing
